MK Smith 01-19-2013 13:30:40 96.252.224.209 Report to Moderator	Looked closely and there is nothing binding the linkage from the handle down to where it enters the gear case. With the engine running I tried every combination of fwd/rev/gear ranges/clutch engaged/disengaged. Shut it down and tried again. It shifts in/out of hi/low and runs through the gears fine but it's still locked in fwd. Would it have anything to do with the cap I removed or can I rule that out? Thanks, Mike [Reply]   [No Email]

I couldn't see down in the hole with the foot rest in the way but could move the ball around with my finger and didn't feel an indentation for it to sit down in. I'll try and jam my cell phone camera in there this morning to figure it out. The ball should go in first, then the spring. I don't recall if the arm can over travel with the detent out. [Reply]  [No Email]

It didn't seem to lay right in the center when I put back on and I was very aware that it spun off with no pressure but wouldn't go back on by hand, so something moved or didn't go back together just right. The fork shaped ball seat must've rotated fwd before I re-installed the cap causing the spring to fold up and then the ball wedged up inside. Got the ball out and the cap will clean up but the spring is chowed. Hoping the assy inside the housing isn't damaged. Any idea about a part number on the spring or specifically where I'd find an expanded view and what the part is called? Does this site have a preferred parts supplier? Thanks for the help.
