Went to the local John Deere store yesterday to get some autolite 386 plugs for my AR as I always have only to be told Deere only stocks Champion plugs now. The parts guy said "I think they are better now than they use to be" with a wink.
I bought a couple anyway.

I've run two late B's on this farm since my dad bought them new... Champion didn't made a plug hot enough to prevent fouling unless you can find some NOS 10COM64's (Champion put these out to compete with the AC C88L. Same heat range.) D23 was the Champion recommended number but its heat range was too low to prevent fouling. We have always used AC C88L which is a hotter plug. Haven't tried Autolite but some folks are pleased with them and the 388 is hotter than the 386.

I have an h johndeere a B a G a 60 a 50 And a 3020 gas I have only ever had trouble with champion plugs 1 time It was in 1 cylinder on my g got a little water in it sitting in the rain without being covered I have always used D21 plugs since these tractors are to play with The B get to burn no1 fuel oil sometimes also. When we worked these tractors in the field years ago we used d16 plugs.

I use Autolite, the threads are better and they have more heat ranges,Champion and AC are for lawn mowers and small engines.

Champion makes one plug that will work in these tractors and absolutely will not foul. It is a D89 plug and is the plug used in Farmall MD and similar tractors that start on gas and run on diesel. The reach on them is extremely long and extends well past the threads of the plug. I haven't used them but have a friend that does and swears by them. I stick with Autolites myself. Mike

can anybody tell me about the quality of edison spark plugs. model x46. uncle gave me four to put in my tractors. one is in the orginal box with instructions on how to disassemble clean and adjust.

I run nothing but Champions in my unstyled B... of course, they are the old three piece #1 common plugs that can be taken apart and cleaned. Been using the same set for nearly 20 yrs. Of course, its just a parade/tractor drive tractor. It hasn"t done any serious work other than an occassional plow day.
