I'm trying to remove the fan shaft assembly from a late 48 B. I took the 3 bolts out that hold the cover on.....the assembly pulls out a little ways but has tension. Almost spring like, Is there an oil line connected inside the governor housing thats holding it from coming out? I have the parts manual and cant seem to figure out the problem. Am I missing something obvious here?

thanks guys.

#52 in the parts man is the cover i took loose.

The gov. shaft is spring loaded. It may be putting enough tension on the fan gear to hinder removal. You might try loosening the plate on the side of the gov.

If you remove the side plate off the govenor housing you will want to remove the mag before you reassemble or damage to the mag drive coupling could happen.
