Embossed axel

I have been around John Deeres for a long time.Their is an ad on craigslist for a early styled B; it states it has the rare embossed axel. I was of the assumption that all A-B-Gs had the embossed axel up till about 1946. I wonder if the people selling the tractor don"t know much about JDs or are trying to flim flam some one in believing the tractor is very rare? What do you all have to say about this one?

You are correct. All the As, Bs, Gs, had the raised rear letters on the back axle casting up until 1947, when the late styled tractors with battery boxes came out.

Early literature of the day shows a few battery box tractors with the raised letters as well- don't know if tese were pre-production or using up old parts.

Didn't the very early G's have different lettering than the later unstyled ones?
