One more question and I will hush. When you take the trans. out of the park position and shift the lever to the right it wants to start to slightly move forward and when you mover the lever to the left it wants to inch backwards. This is without depressing the clutch pedal. It this normal or is there an adjustment that needs to me made. Thank you all for your help.

That is normal for the limited number of powershifts we have had.I see you have a 1972 4020P.S.They seem to be few and far between.Every body wants the 72s lately.Too bad its not a HFWA then you would have a rare one indeed although not as useful.

IIRC that is part of the trans design to aid in attaching equipment to the tractor draw bar or 3pt. The so-called inching clutch pedal is very sensitive.

If it had a good home with that few of hours I am surprised you are having any problems. With less than 5000hrs. the paint should buff out and mechanical problems should be minor.

Yes Larry one like this one sold for $26,000 at a farm sale near me last Spring ,,I was there with my Nephew who was going to go to $17,000 on it,,he never had a chance to get his hand out of his pocket to make a bid...

The repairs are minor. It has just sat outside most of its life. It had an aftermarket wide front on it. It was shipped new with a narrow front and that is the way I am going to put it back. It runs and shifts very well.

They can drag excessively due to a damaged clutch pack. I have two PS 4020"s, and one is definitely worse than the other, but still OK according to the procedure in the shop manual. There is a specific test procedure in the shop manual to determine if the drag is excessive. If you would like, I can post that information. Will be away "til tomorrow, though.
