Have some questions
1how much boost have you SAFELY ran
2 is it possible to get 450 rwhp out that is safe?
will this engine turn 6500 to 700 without gernading
thanks I have been searching and I cannot seem to find any info that answers these questions.I found one with 59000 miles on it setting long enough that engine is locked up.TIRES ARE ROTTEN OIL LEAKS FROM EVERY OIL HOLDING UNIT ON THE CAR.He PRICED IT TO ME AT 1000.All glass is faded been setting in a shed for years. It has the gtound effects on it and a manual trans.I thought they all had autos.Sorry about the caps trying this from my phone just found this car and I LIKE IT! thanks

Somebody has hacked it up. The TH200R4 was the only transmission.
More than stock boost will blow the intercooler hoses off , heavier units are required.
The stock intercooler has a restrictive bend in the outlet that needs to be cutout and replaced.
5500rpms is lots.
450HP flywheel is the limit for the stock main caps if there is no detonation.
Depends on air temp and fuel octane. I've seen days where 16psi would indicate detonation on the sensor. Other days 20psi is fine.
The fuel pump , injectors, mass airflow sensor, turbo inlet pipe, turbo down pipe, cat removal, free flowing mufflers , a chip, hardener transmission stator stub, and a stretch intercooler, will put an otherwise stock GN easily into the low 12's.

It actually has a 5 spd and they did a very nice job.The thing that has got me bugged is the engine is LOCKED up.I am thinking at least 4500 to go thru this one with any kind of performance parts.I think 400rwhp would be a more realistic figure?I want to be able to go to store n still run middle to high 12s ?It appears to have a weak spot in frame wher it set on ground. What do you think.10000 to restore the car

What is under the hood? Did somebody transplant a Vette drive train in there?
Turbo's work better with an automatic. The turbo can be spooled up by brake torquing the converter. The turbo rpms stat up during gear shifts.

still has the v6 turbo but has an air to air also>I did not know they had that.Trans appears to be alum No rust on body nad 14in wheels?mOUSE NEST IN AIR CLEANER THE INTERIOR DOES NOT STINK U THINK THESE CARS are worth saving this one is all there except the auto It looks fast setting there with 4 flats
?

All 86 and 87's had the air to air intercooler mounted between the rad and the water pump. Cool air from a scoop below the coolant rad. A small crank mounted fan moved some air through the intercooler.
There is a modified factor intercooler that is "Stretched" lower/longer and has the improved outlet.
Still have the factory chrome steel rims with the turbo6 design?
Somebody went to a lot of work to swap in a clutch , a BOP pattern belhousing and a transmission that could handle the torque.
A beefed up TH200R4 is faster and reliable. Needs the hardened stator support, larger servo pistons, larger 2nd gear band, front pump upgrade, pressure regulator valve upgrade, extra clutch packs and a few other tweaks.
Will handle a 500+HP turbo as long as some knob doesn't rev the engine then yank the trans into gear.

wheels are very dingy but it looks like a 6? in the middle ? Tires are comppletely rotten seats prob need recovered

$1000 doesn't buy much these days. Probably more value in it than that as parts, but I'm not a Buick or Grand National expert. They are awesome looking cars, though. My roommate/classmate in tech school had a Buick Regal T-Type, and from what I understand those are even more rare than Grand Nationals, although I could be wrong.

My buddy from tech school also had a '86 Buick Regal T Type. Had most of the mods to make it a GNX. It was an impressive car. Driving down the road doing 40 mph, stomp the gas and rear tires started spinning. Didn't do it much as tires were expensive. Pretty cool. High praise from a Ford guy.
