4020 new Oever haul

Hello all,

I did a major rebuild on my 4020 D, Removed engine from frame and a machine shop did the fine work who has deere experience. A lot of new parts
Cam, Crank pistons and etc. Also new inj pump.
Have 30 hours on it now, been running good and the biggest job it has done is to run a 8 ft MoCo.
Today I discovered leakage from the front weep hole. Should I be worried? Anything I can do for it?

Well apparently it looks like there is a tore o-ring. If the machine shop installed the sleeves and pistons I guess I would have them re-do it because you are just 1 o-ring away from water in the oil.
 
Wow that would be depressing, My guess is they didn't get the o-ring grooves clean enough, they are tuff to clean. I use a wire wheel on a side grinder with a 5/8" all thread extending it down the hole, does a great job...
 
i have done several of thees engines as tim says drill with wire wheel and about 4 hrs on last one was what it took to clean the rust and grooves and if there not clean they well leak so if it was me it be going back to machine shop
 
Yes Ben if there is a bit of old o-ring left in the groove it holds the new ring out just a bit and then the liner clips it on the way by.
 
Yep, you probably cut an o-ring. Deere makes a little kit for cleaning liner bores. One of the tools is a little scraper for getting in there to peel the old crap out and the other is kind of a real stiff bristle brush that you put on a drill. Regardless of what you use, plenty of old-fashioned elbow grease is required and you always want to look around the bottom of the liners really closely after installation for any pieces that might have been cut off during installation. I've never cut an o-ring myself, knock on wood, but that's only because I've always been REAL particular about cleaning the grooves.
