I have a guy with a mint 2520 that wants to add JD 9 bolt duals.I have some wheels and have a set of wedge style hubs and was wondering if wedges out of an original casting will work.I dont have a 2520 here right now so what size axle wedges out of what tractor would work?I havent had any wedges smaller than 3/1/8 and I remember they being smaller. Thanks |

| Larry, you will have to do some looking in the parts books. The 2 7/8" axle was used clear back to the model 50 through the 520 and 530. I believe some early 4030's also used this size axle. It may be possible to use the axle wedges from any of the older tractors in the hubs you may have. The taper angle of these hubs was changed at some point so compare the hub casting number with a wheel casting number, such as the common F1500R. Many of those wedges will work in the earlier dual hubs. The later hubs that may have the different taper angle would require a later (and harder to find) wheel wedge. It can be done and has been but you need to be a good student of the parts books. Mike |

| I just went out and measured the 2520, and 2510 while I was at it. They are the same. Yes, they are 2 7/8" axles. You might get about 8" of axle at the most if the wheels are rolled way in. A little more if you removed the push bolts. I suppose the whole effort would be easier with tires narrower than 15.5. I was thinking the same thing, but ended up with wide spaced clamp on duals, spaced for 30" rows. |

| I believe the 2520 has 2 7/8 size axle, and if the tractor has the extra long axles they would be the 3 1/8 size axle. |

| Does 2520 have regular or long axles?? These are the wedges PC lists for 2520 which also fit a 4000.
