Powertrol oil moving into Tranny

Group,

I just pulled apart my 46 B to check where my Hydro oil was escaping to the tranny. The gasket on the powertrol cylinder seemed to be good so where else should I be looking? around the PTO shaft???
Thanks

Sam

Yep, most likely the pto cup/spring/bushing.

Sam-The PTO pump shaft seal gets hard and worn-replacing is best option-had to do on JD 60-not to bad to put it in-stopped the leaking. I think the seal consists of two seals back to back-can get it through seal company if you can get part number of old one to cross-but put in two seals back to back (seal rubber out)
Good Luck

Wrong tractor! A "B" pto is not a '60 pto. It's a cup/spring/bushing. Look at the parts book and price that stuff first!

FIT,

I took some photos I do not see the seal???? Please help!

Sam,

Looking at your 3rd picture. Slide the bronze cup off the shaft and you'll see the 2 flat rubber packings (seals). They're still available from Deere for about $5.00 each. Part# A668R. New ones look like large garden hose washers.

Inspect the front face of the cup. It should have a nice flat machined surface. It rides against a bronze bushing that should also have the same type of surface as the cup. The part# for the bushing is A621R. It's available from Deere for about $19.00.

The flat packings AND the cup & bushing work together to keep the Powr-Trol oil in the Powr-Trol sump.
