A guy wants to sell his 5210 MFD w/loader 110 hours looks like new.The only ones I have seen are on TractorHouse so heres the question are they made a good tractor and what are they worth.Wants around 20K.I was told JD has two levels in the smaller tractors one to be competitive[cheaper] and a higher quality model.Dont know much about small ones so need some advice.

The 5000 series I've been around had clutch problems and to me are very noisy when running. One had dragging brakes that required R&R of both final drives.

The little 5000s are all around good tractors. With a loader, FWD and it being in good shape as you say it is going to be near 20k. Only you can make the final decision, but without seeing it I would say it is in the $18 range. Those tractors don't really give many problems other than just minor stuff that you see on any tractor. I think you will be happy with one that size. Hope it works out.

I put a lot of clutches in the 5000 series,Just put one in a 5510 last week, the 3rd one for that tractor in 7 years,I don't like them, the cabs are hard to get in and out of, when you set in the seat and try to see the draw bar it's near impossible to do, they are a cheap made tractor in many ways..

A few other websites to check on price fastline.com and machinefinder.com. For specs look at external_link. On the price what type of transmission is in it, is it a cab, does it come with a loader and how many SCVs.

I have been happy with my 5210 it has done everything I have asked of it. If you search various websites you are NOT going to find problems with the 3029D engine. The dry clutch is its weak spot, it is often what the tractor is used for lots of loader work and not ballasted. How it is operated not keeping the clutch adjusted, not stopping when changing direction, letting the clutch out when stopped and engine at 2400 RPM and riding the clutch.

The thing that concerns me the most is the Park Pawl must be stopped before putting in park. If you do get even though it has low hours and if not already done. I would replace the hydraulic filter, fluid and clean the pickup screen.

The 5X10s were made 1998 to 2001, I do not believe JD had the E and M models like they today.
