41 A Cooling System

Sorry for a newbie question but I just want to make sure I'm on the right page here.

Before winter sets up I'd like to change the coolant in my '41 A. The attached picture is the coolant drain plug, yes? And it seems like any color antifreeze will work, is this true?

Thanks!

Yes you are correct. But, mix the coolant BEFORE pour it
into the radiator. It will not mix if you don't. Leaving you a
cracked block / head from freezing. These don't have water
pumps they are a thermo syphon system . Good luck.

Yes, but I still Prefer good old GREEN permanent Antifreeze...
PRE-MIX, before pouring in a COLD engine always..

Not all ethylene glycol is green. Peak is blue, still EG, still permanent. Can't say I've ever had a problem by not pre-mixing, even on non-water pump engines, but then I generally pour in one gallon of EG, then fill that gallon with water, then I split the next gallon into the two containers I have until filled. That way if I have any left over, it's 50/50.

Put a ball valve where your drain plug is so next time you dont have to drain the whole system at once. Not sure of the capacity on an A but the B is 7gallons. Not easy to catch when it comes out.
