Resting Relics 1 11-22-2012 07:42:35 75.24.77.128 Report to Moderator	Re: 2240 JD hydraulic in reply to Robin Babb, 11-21-2012 17:49:57   Hey Robin, As DEEREMEYER1 says you have a high pressure leak internally somewhere that is causing the main pump to try and overcome the leak which in turn makes the oil get hot fast. This is not unheard of in closed center hydraulic systems, but the trick is to find out where the leak is. I would do as the guys have mentioned here and start isolating things starting with the loader valve as that's probably the easiest. My guess is that it's probably in the steering valve because the loader valve and steering are not connected per-say. The way you describe it all your hydraulic stuff should also be hot if you were using them because all the hydraulic oil must be hot but you only notice the steering and the loader valve because that's where your sitting and that's what your using. It is also a fairly common problem with steering valves on these tractors especially with loaders no them. If that's the problem a repacking will be needed. Good Luck! John [Reply]  [No Email]

Both the components that Robin mentioned that are exhibiting heat are the easiest components to check for internal leakage. [Reply]  [No Email]

Remove steering supply line and cap fitting and see if heat goes away.
