New Gen Front Wheel Assist Tractors

Hey Guys,

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any production records on New Generation Front wheel Assist tractors? Or was that option not recorded in the records? I recently picked up a 1972 4320 with factory FWA front axle. Any other information or pointers would be helpful as well, New Gen FWA's are new to me.

Thanks to all.

As I understand, it isn't known. The HFWA was an option and it wasn't recorded. I sent my serial number to two-cylinder magazine and received a fancy paper stating that I own a `71 4020 power shift diesel, no mention of the axle mount duals, triple SCVs, cab, heat, a/c, or HFWA

Same as power-shift option on 3020 and 4020s.There have been several that were put on later and if done right it would be difficult to tell. There extra value is strictly from collector demand as they were not the greatest. On 30/40 series they are discounted and bring less than 2WDs.I do know how many 4320&6030s power shifts were made and 4840 syngros.[0]If you had a 72 4020 gas P.S.HFWA [and I think there are some] that would be rare.I actually know of a few 4320s w/ HFWA.so they must have made several. The MFWD was a big step forward in tractor efficiency.

Hi Jeff,
I had a 4630 with the HFWD on it for years and there is nothing wrong with the drive unit, the problem was in the lack of enough flow and pressure in the hydraulic system. Massey Ferguson bought the drive from John Deere and used it on the rear of their combines and it was good as there was, the only difference was that the drive got it's power from the main hydrostatic system of the combine which had a lot more capacity.
By the way how did you make out in the storm, I was thinking about you and was wondering about Long Island.
