Russ, look at the parts catalog, PC313. If you don't have it, go to JDParts.com and download it for free.

Starting from the inside, a clutch facing, fixed clutch drive disk, clutch facing disk(with a facing on each side), sliding drive disk, another clutch facing disk, another sliding drive disk, another clutch facing, and finally the clutch adjusting disk. There are only 2 free floating disks. If you have 6, then the clutch facing disks have come apart. If they have holes, it might be possible to rerivet them. Otherwise, they were glued on.

Russ...you should have two "loose" disks and four bonded or riveted disks. Probably the reason that you have six is the four that should be bonded to the metal plates are no longer bonded. I would replace them with riveted disks. The loose disks are one behind the clutch driver and one under the clutch stack cover (cast piece with the three springs.

I kinda figured at one time they were attached to the metal disk. They have no holes so I guess the bonding came loose. Oh well just more stuff to buy. I always download the parts manual for all my tractors. Be sides IT I have not found a good maint. manual for the gas 70. Davenport shows one for the diesel. Thanks guys..Russ

Deere never got around to writing a service manual for the '70'. The '60' was the first one they did, well there was a bit of one written for the "R".

Dealers could use the '60' manual for transmission how to, clutch pulley, PTO clutch, etc, much like the "B" manual was used for all of the lettered series.
