Those bolts should be 5/8-11... Not positive on a G but would bet heavy that's what they are too. And my recollection is the ones on my 820 were grade 8. Given 5/8-11 grade 8 bolt going into cast iron in a situation where the purpose is to just put a little tension on the bolts to hold it tight... you'll be good to go at about 150 ft./lbs. Run 'em all hand tight then bump 'em up to about 100-130 then 150 in a sensible pattern. There should be the thin metal tabs under them to be bent over both the head and over the edge of the casting the bearing is in... so should they try to back off they can't go anywhere. If you were running the same into steel the recommended seating torque would be a whopping 283 ft./lbs. for grade 8 5/8-11. You don't need or WANT that in this situation. If you don't like the way 150 feels then bump them up a little more if you like. 175 wouldn't hurt anything. They aren't critical. They'll probably handle about 225 before you'd need to worry about pitching or pulling the threads out of your casting. [Reply]   [No Email]
