Do these come off fairly easy? This shaft has the tach drive on it and betting you can't put much effort against it to take apart. Can a guy press the bevel gear off to remove the bearing or do you press the drive hub off first. thanks chris

I just redid my governor on a B and a good press is all you need. I started on the end opposite where the coupling is to the magneto. It came apart with some force on the press. It was actually easier putting it together.

Ask on here about Governor Bearings...

I believe there are options to put much Better Bearings in than the originals..

You might want to pick up or borrow a copy of the JD B service manual. SM2004. A really excellent description of how to get these governors apart.

I have a 10 ton press, and it took every bit of it to get the governors on my "37 and "38 B apart. It also takes a little finesse to set it up so you don"t bust a gear.
