63 JD 3010 - rear axle slipped out?

With both rear wheels in the air, left side wheel engages and rotates through all gears - right side is free spinning (always). A quick measurement from sidewall to frame shows the right side is 1.25" further away from frame than left side. The right wheel axle seal also shows considerable (fresh) leak of fluid.
This all leads me to believe, perhaps a snap-ring let go and the axle slid out of differential, disengaging the planetary gears? Comments? Thoughts? Any idea how i can tell if those rear tires are filled with anything?

No snap ring,,the keeper and axle bolt backed away, probably because a bearing is bad, or the outer spacer got hammered up and let the bearing slack. The final drive will need to be pulled.

If your talking about the two pusher bolts they should be loose, you can pull and service the final drive with the wheel on. Use a floor crane and jack up the wheel till it will let the floor crane legs under then set it down on the crane legs as a dolly, drop a chain down from the mast ans hook to the axle housing..
