starter/generator rebuilding

Our local electric shop recently went out of business. Long story short, I have the time, ability, and most of the tools to do this myself. I have no knowledge, and was wondering if there's a book, etc. out there that I can teach myself from. Thanks!!!

John Deere fos manual electronic and electrical systems is a real good book it is 624 pages and it's $50.95

I think it stood for "Fundamentals of Service". They were theory books that covered general service points, so that if you understood that, you could repair any similar device since you understood the theory of operation.

They are good books lots of details on electrical systems how they work and how to test them . They were the text books we used at college I stil use mine when I have a question
