1950 B with round axles?

I have a B that has what looks like original decals in the forward position on the sides of the hood, but it has a round rear axle housing . The serial number tag is missing. Does anyone know if round axles were used on any 50s or do I have a 49 with incorrect decals? I have researched this and some say the change was during the 49 year and some say it was early 50 when square axles were first used.

Your '50B could be a BN or BW which have the long rear axles. JD did not use square housings on the extended axles when the change was made.

This is from Two-Cylinder magazine. Sounds like yours are correct.

Frank is correct, both the A and B that had the long rear axles on
the wide and single wheel front ends had the round rear axle
housings all the way to the end of production. They came with 42"
rear wheels but you could also get the 38" wheels as an option.

Just a FYI. The square axle started at serial number 248257, May 1st. 1949. So your tractor is a 1949 model built most likely between April, 1949 and May 1st., 1949.

i have a 49 B that was bought new by my dad in the late fall of 49 it came with the square axel housing the later power trol valve
