I found the lock ring. Laid it in a safe place I had forgot about. I now need to know if the fan travels clockwise like other tractors or not. |

You can tell whivch way the fan turns by the pitch of the blades. It's made to pull air through the radiator.

When standing on the flywheel-side of the tractor, the fan turns counter clockwise. When you install that fanshaft, you will need to put the proper amount of shim gaskets between the fanshaft and gov. housing. To give the gov. gear and fan gear the correct heal and toe clearance to eliminate excessive wear and a really noisy howl........

Is that shims between the casting on the shaft and the gov, OR between the holding stand and the cast part where the oil goes in, OR both

There are shims(gaskets) where the fan shaft bolts to the gov. housing. No shims used on the front stand. Download your Free parts manual at JDPARTS
