I have a 7000 series 18 row 20" spaceing planter. I would like to find a 6 row head to fit my 6600 combine. Could I take a 643 30", and narrow it up for 20" rows?

I don't know.
Do you want to harvest 6 20" rows? Will the 6600 fit behind that narrow of a swath?
When I updated planter and combine a few years ago I really wanted to take the opportunity and go to 20" rows. I couldn't find a small 20" row planter.(I was going from 4-30" rows(10') to 15' coverage.) I had done some thinking on adapting a corn head, but wasn't about to build a planter.
As I recall I decided (on a black Gleaner head) the units could be moved in to 20". My thought was to add 3 units to a 6x30" and still cover 15'.
I even had a couple talks with Marion Calmer, a narrow row guru, and a nice guy besides!
Best of luck.

Calmer has good products and I have delt with Clarke Machine in SD. Clarke make large heads. They put a 16 X 30 on a 9750 but it would not unload as fast as it could combine.

JD corn heads are row units on a toolbar. If the nine row units fit it will work well. If not you may have to widen the base of the head.
I used to run 12 x 20 inch rows but had to widen an 8 x 30" head or buy a new custom made head base frame. Bought a Bish made frame and hung 12 JD row units on it.
