4430 engine swap

I am considering replacing the 404 engine in a 4430 with powershift with an 8820 combine engine. Looks like the 8820 crank has six bolts. Has anyone converted a four bolt flylwheel to a six hole? What other problems will I encounter? Thanks for your responses.

The crankshaft in the 466/8820 motor is the same as the replacment crank for the 404 you are replacing. A new replacement crank for the 404 will have the same 6 holes and will instruct you to plug the two extra holes with thread lock sealer and two set screws. The remaining four holes will line up with your original flywheel bolt pattern. Every thing will bolt right up.

One thing guys mention is to check the front of the engine to see if it has mounting holes for the hyd pump mount. Maybe the frame bolts will be 3/4 instead of 5/8. chris

It will fit fine,"but" check the front frame holes on the block,,some of them were a bigger pattern and if this is the case it won't work for you with out altering the frame rails, which don't work well at all, unless you cut that area out and weld the new larger pattern into the frame with a reseess.I know some of the 8440's,and 50's were different,,I'm not sure on the 8820 combine engine..I have never seen a block that did not have the pump frame bolt pattern...
