There were a few field installed upgrades that by now might have made it into your '60', so which manual to use could be tricky. When you are ready, take some pictures for us to look at and that can change which book you buy, and how you go about the helix repair/adjustments, etc.
Also, I have both the old and new manuals for P/S, and I know I am in the minority here, but if you read, read, read, until you understand it, the I&T book in this case is actually pretty good, in fact I'd say well good enough for the job.
Now, that said...what is the problem(s) with your power steering system? I like to break it down into three system components: pump assy, actuator valve, and pedestal group. You can actually do fine operating on them one at a time, or all at once. I have seen many that did not leak but would not otherwise function, fixed in an afternoon by reworking a few points in the actuator valve and making a few critical adjustments. |

| The only problem with the system is that the lower seal(where the ROM/steering arm bolts too) is leaking badly. Will leak out in a couple weeks. We have this tractor torn down to overhaul and would like to tackle this now, or how long can the ps pump run without oil? Customer/friend isn't to concerned about it but I hate to go through the engine and then the fan goes through the new radiator or the governor explodes. chris |

| Well, the leaking bottom end o-ring seal is the heaviest, but simplest fix in the group. You'll want to study the parts breakdown and order any rubber parts, including vane seals. I don't use the kit they used to sell, as it included too many extras. Look that over and comment back.

I'm not b&d but SM2016 or SM2050. I know you can get one from Davenport Tractors.
SKU: DD2050
Weight: 0.67
Price: $11.00 (USD)

| Haven't been around the home computer, my desk and library. Couldn't recall off the top of my head the SM number. Technical Publishing is rather adapt at finding the info you need with a few hints. |

| | Glen must be busy. SM 2016 is the early version printed in 1957. SM 2050 was the later version and printed in 1962. Davenport has the reprints available for $11 each. Course that ain't gonna help Glen's kickback for retirement from Deere. lol |
