ffdfireman18 10-13-2012 07:04:23 65.183.175.241 Report to Moderator	I finally got my 45 A running pretty good. I plowed 2 acres with it and took the disc to it. The problem I"m having is it sat for probably two months now. I shut the gas off and ran it out when I parked it. I went to start it yesterday and it spit out what looks to be water out of the exhaust. Quite a bit all over the hood and dripping on the floor. After further inspection it had some antifreeze in it. I checked the coolant level and it wasn"t really low. About 1-2 inches down from the very top of the filler neck. Anything to worry about? Bad head or head gasket? I had to replace the steel ones with the brass replacments in both my 39 A and my 37 BO. Also, I've seen hairline cracks in the heads where the coolant flows around the intake valve chamber. It would leak anti-freeze into the cylinders if it set more than a few weeks. I had the engine completely apart and check out. Nothing could be found wrong. I owned the tractor for thirty years it did it until I sold it and the new owner says it still does it. My solution was if I was going to be using it in a month or so I just opened the pet cocks when I went to start it. It would blow the water out the pet cocks. For over the winter I just removed the spark plugs and filled the cylinders with diesel fuel. That would keep it from rusting the cylinder walls. I then just spun it over a few time and re-installed the spark plugs.   [Reply]  [No Email]
