4010 power shaft rear bearing housing

The housing on my 4010 has been abused by one of its owners. Must of let the sway blocks get looose and broke part of the bolt hole that holds the block on. A couple of the holes for the bolts that hold the drawbar still are also in bad shape. I'm thinking I would like to replace with one I found at the salvage yard.

My question.....how big a job is this? Is it just removing the pto stub and pulling the housing, replacing gasket and putting the thing back together. Or is there other things back there I don't know about?

Thanks for any/all replies!

I think you're thinking correctly but maybe a JD technician will chime in.

you need to split it the pto shaft comes in from the back and a snap ring holds it foward in the housing that you need to replace

When you state snap ring are you referring to parts key #55?? If so why can't parts key #47 be removed while leaving pto drive shaft in place?? Does snap ring hold drive shaft in housing(parts key #47) which is not the way parts schematic shows it???????

yes i am and the housing #47 has a shoulder that the brg seats up to this keeps the shaft from moving forward in the housing so you can not get housing off the shaft ratheryou need to remove the shaft frist
