I am working on putting an old H back together and the felts on the rear axle are shot. Short of ordering them from ma deere (for a total of $65 for two), can I just get some felt from the hardware store, cut it and soak it in some 600 wt oil and use it? Or are the ones from ma deere special? Secondly, the retainer on the inside got a little mangled getting it out, is there anybody that sells replacements?Thanks.

| Go to auto parts store and measure felt seal then order lip seals. A good parts man will help. I have done this several times.

| You do know those felts just keep dust out of the bearing and not used as an oil seal?
