HI there, I have an older John Deere tractor and found a similar post on here where a user had an issue that was similar to mine. What happens is the tractor will start then within minutes it stops. His had a Roosa Master injector pump and similar to mine he was told to pull the timing window while running and if it runs perpetually it should likely be that the governor weight retaining ring fell to pieces.
I tried cracking the window on mine and while diesel came spitting out the tractor run flawlessly and with much more power! Now, is there anything I can do to fix this or should I look for other problems? I've never open an injector pump, haven't any manuals on it or the likes. I've found a place to send it too in Wisconsin for repair for around $350.00 so is that reasonable?
Any help is appreciated at this time...Thanks Roger. |

| | To fix back to original, it takes a $15 seal/flex-ring kit, a new $8 bronze bushing (pilot tube), and a new housing-pressure-regulator for $10. $33 total in new parts to fix and about 2 hours bench time to take apart, fix and put back together. If you want to eliminate the rubber part that failed and upgrade to a better system - add $50 to the parts cost. |

Ya know, hearing this is isn't good LJD because I may be good at some things however opening my pump without a manual and your experience is a sure fire way to have your company over for supper and beer chuckle. I'm up in Ontario Canada if by chance one of you are however Sault Michigan is right across the bridge from me so shipping is easy enough.
I'm going to consider the Ebay add as I just started communication with the seller and should he state that he'll do the testing on the pump for his price then we'll that is pretty darn good. I am also going to call Al Baker from the above post... Thanks for this again Al..
Will update as I go... Thanks everyone, excellent forum btw and should there be a donate button here I'll do it. |

| Your problem is a worn flex ring. I have rebuilt hundreds of these pumps. I charge 350.00 to steam clean and tear down the pump. inspect all parts and replace seal kit with flex ring. The drive tube is about 15 bucks if needed, and metering valve about the same. I charge 100.00 bucks to run this pump on a test stand to check fuel output, high and low speeds, and then check hydrualic advance. Then I pressure test the pump for possible leaks. A total of 450.00-475.00 for your pump to run like new, with a one year warranty. I do not cover the pump with cheap looking paint when finished. All pumps are polished and buffed out and look like something you would be proud to install and say you own. Al Baker 231.757.0064 |

| $350 sounds high. Locally the cost is $200. Flex ring and gasket replacement takes about 1.5 hours, the seal/gasket kit runs about $75. |
