| | Here's an excerpt from the Pavillion website (under the "Things to see" tab): "The Legacy of John Deere Always a favorite subject with enthusiasts, this exhibit profiles company decision makers from the past 175-years, examines the company’s corporate culture, and tracks Deere & Company highlights in relation to significant events in American history. This area also features a variety of historical tractors including a 4010 Tractor, Waterloo Boy and a Model A as well as several original artifacts. Enthusiasts can also research our database for early John Deere tractor serial numbers and advertisements through designated kiosks." |

| I called the JD Pavilion today and talked to them about this subject and the "official line" on the subject is that they DO NOT provide serial number information over the phone. They added that they DO try to accomodate people as best they can, time permitting, with regards to this subject. The lady I talked to was very accomodating and helpful. She said that they really would prefer that all serial number inquiries were made in person, at the Pavilion, on their computer kiosk, and that all inquiries made by phone or internet be directed to T-C Club. The main concern being that they don't have the staff to handle floods of calls regarding serial numbers. Sure can't blame them for that. They did indicate that the information available to them may not be as detailed as that at Archives or T-C. So there is hope out there that some of this kind of information will be freed up for all to view who are interested in such things. The next step is to just make it available on the website, same as looking up a part number at JD Parts or something similar, and make the database searchable outside of just machine serial number. I still buy the certificates from T-C for every tractor I own, and probably always will. I just think it would be nice to be able to scan the information contained in the registers at will, like you can with the three books T-C put out in the late 90's.Thank You John Deere..................Keep up the good work and keep moving ahead.
Wish I lived in Moline right now. |

| I'm shocked. When did this happen? Lon in NE, thank you for bringing this up. Now I'm itching to call them, but I'm scared they are going to get flooded with calls/requests and shut the whole idea down. Thank you Ray for the post that triggered Lon's response. Wow....................
So was I even close on the build date guess? |

| Thanks for the feedback. It's always good to have some known reference points along the way when estimating the build dates. Thanks again, and thanks for bringing out the whole JD Pavilion thing by way of your post. Any kind of first hand, on the spot, access to serial number information has not been available for about 10 or 12 years now. |
