jd 40 hydraulics

Hello, need to put seals in the lift arms and quadrant adjuster arms on my 40. The lift arms are of course not coming off, is there a trick you guys know of? Also, the lift bleeds down, when i get into it is there anyway to fix that problem? And overall, will this be complicated, or a pretty straight forward process? Thanks in advance.

No real tricks I know of to offer but on the bleeding down issue... That often is related to how well the check valve/valves seat though there are several possibilities. Re-finishing them until the ring of wear or "shoulders" are out of them and re-seating them often takes care of the drifting down and bobbing problems. They can be serviced without removing the unit from the tractor.

Thanks for the reply, where are these check valves? Are they hooked to the arm under the seat which changes which lift arm you are using? I have the diagram from the dealer but it does not specifically point out these valves.

thanks
