Is 80/90 gear oil ok in the M transmission? I want to drain out all the old and replace with new. Going to use hy-trans in Touch-o-matic if thats ok. What weight of oil in the final drives? I use 85/140 in my WD45. Thanks for any help. |

| 140 wt would be quiter in your tranny and finals but the 85/140 oil you use in your WD will be just fine. Use non detergent motor oil in the TOM. I prefer 20wt or 30wt cause it works better and leaks less. It's also cheap. |

| Tractor Supply also sells straight 90 wt. by me. It's just Napa had a larger quantity at a cheaper cost. |

| | We use SAE 90 in the transmission of "Sparky" our 51M. Takes about 61/2 quarts. We use SAE 10 in the Touch-O-Matic. Takes about 31/2 quarts. We use SAE 90 in the final drives. Takes about 31/2 pints. Hope this helps. |

| I found straight 90wt at Napa and that's what the manual calls for so that's what I used in the trans. I also used the 10wt in the TOM in case it leaks back into your engine of the pump deal goes bad. Personally I wouldnt want hy-trans leaking into my engine. |

| | I have never had a tractor before that could get hy-trans into the engine from a bad seal...good to know this about the M. Going to Napa is out of the question for me...they are always closed when I get off of work. I don"t know where else to get straight 90. Never used straight 90 in anything. The M is throwing me curve balls...lol. |
