Hello Everyone

My 3way valve leaks gas into the carb when off. I heard that
there is a packing to replace but when looking at the parts
book I only see a gasket for the nut at the end. Anyone know
the part number for the packing or what I can do to keep this
from leaking.

Hey JD Gimpl,
I believe Steiner now sells one with seals in it. This is a common problem especially with the newer gasoline. Best thing is to use the bowl shut off after setting the valve where you want it and tighting up the cap nut pretty tight. Good Luck!

If you want to get one leak free, you really have to add a few o-ring grooves. The one on the on the end around the shaft is sort of optional. I lap evertything first with Clover lapping compound. They won't drip and will work real smooth if you install o-rings. Sorry for the crude sketch.

As I recall our friend the Frankster aka FIT has a good handle on this question, I also have used valve grind compound to lap them in and added that big outer gasket n got them to seal good AND IF I ONCE GOT ONE TO SEAL I NEVERRRRRRRR TURNED THEM AGAIN as I never saw a need to switch from gas to fuel and instead used the sediment bowl as the shut off....

Lapping the valve will help, but they will always leak some by internally by design
