I have a 1941 JD H. It did not come from the factory with Power Lift option. I know where I can get a complete Power Lift hydraulic pump. What besides a hydraulic cylinder and hoses, would I need to put this on my tractor. Thanks |

| jbennage, I rebuilt a 1945 H. In the process I removed the hydraulic pump and related parts, including the governor shaft and the left side governor cap that has the hole for the longer shaft. My name is bill and my phone number is 614-561-9454 If you're interested. Call anytime. |

| | jbennage, the 1941 model year for the model “H” began with S/N 20615 and ended with S/N 35698, so we’ll assume your tractor falls in that range. At S/N 27000 the longer governor shaft became standard equipment. So if your tractor is truly original and is earlier than 27000, the governor shaft will have to be replaced – which can be a challenging task without the proper tools. After S/N 27000, the Power Lift is essentially a “bolt-on” that replaced the LH governor bearing housing, but with either early or late 1941 model year tractors, one still needs to maintain fan gear alignment which can be a real problem since the LH governor bearing housing positioning (via shims between the governor housing and the LH governor bearing housing) controls some of the fan gear alignment. The Power Lift for the model “H” was introduced as optional equipment in December 1940, right around the time that S/N 27000 was built. But the Power Lift was made to fit back to the earliest models. If you were back in 1941, you could order a kit (AH915R) that included the Power Lift and all parts necessary for field installation to tractors built before S/N 27000. And that kit did include a replacement Power Shaft shifter lever (AH925R, casting number H876R) that Frank mentioned which fitted underneath the Power Lift housing. If your tractor doesn’t have a Power Shaft, you don’t need to worry about that part. The link below is for a thread some years ago that discussed some aspects of the Power Lift for the model "H".... |

| Dan, After all the exchanges here lately about H governor housing/fan drives, I'm glad you waved the caution flag a bit here. The additional load presented by a hydraulic pump on the gears and bearings in the governor housing could exacerbate already existing conditions. |

| I have tore down a few H's in my time & shown below is typical governor shaft "twisting" caused by hydraulic pump being drive from governor shaft. |

| Ahh....yes, that would make perfect sense otherwise the pump would be more or less a "hood ornament", so to speak. Thanks F-I-T |
