Bought a 620 that was suppose to have been driven in the 2010 Christmas parade.Tractor was in the dry with the exhaust covered, the engine was stuck,we took a chain and put thru the flywheel holes and a 5ft bar and rolled the engine a 1/4 turn.now you can roll it back and forth by hand but no more.Rockerarm is off so its not a stuck valve.Any one got an idea?? thanks |

A neighbor had an irrigation engine one time that would partly turn one way like that after sitting idle all winter...Finally pulled the heads and realized mice had partially/mostly filled some of the cylinders with grain. Howard

Friend had a 630 that sat with the fuel open. Fuel made it to the cylinder where it eventualy turned soild. The engine would turn about a quarter turn then hit the blockage. Pulled the head and broke the chunk out.

May also be a main bearing? The oil supply hole seal washers can swell and choke them off.

Seen that happen when a piston breaks. Rebuilt a couple of 620's and 30's that had the top of the piston break. Looks like a design flaw or a weak spot in the piston where they break.

I have had a few tractors like that as well.Best thing is to pull the head and hone the cylinder walls. I had one that I ended up drivening pistons out and there was build up under the rings, cleaned pistons up and clearance was great.
