I hooked up the Kuhn this afternoon and cut the alfalfa. Looking down the hood, can anyone tell me what 40 series tractor I'm in. Kinda learned this little game from the Case forum. This was how I spent my afternoon, as I spent my morning removing the hi-lo pack from our 8440, oh so much fun! |

| And it "could" be a 4630, running a haybine with a 1,000 shaft in it... |

| I'm with Mike on the 4440,,and if you removed an 8440 HI/Low, the back of your hand is scoffed up, those upper bolts are nasty to reach..We were trying to figure how many miles we drove per bale on our last cutting,,very thin here in Ohio this year.. |

| Tim, I come out lucky on the hi lo, lost no fingers and only needs seals and discs. High side was worn out. Three bolts gone holding the planetary to the clutch pack. Three holding. That could have been a bad deal! looks like they just got loose. Found them with a magnet in the bottom. Ordered new ones. Supposed to have rubber on them? What do you think? |

| Yes they had rubber molded to them to help deal with vibration and to help lock them I always replace them when I go back together..They are a handful to pull & put.. |

| It's a drill population monitor. The other thing sticking up is the bracket for the dickey john planter monitor. Our DJ only goes to 16 rows, so it doesn't work well with a drill. I move the drill monitor to the 4650 if we are running both at the same time. |

| With the tall muffler, small fuel cap, and air stack behind the muffler it appears to be a 4440. Mike |

| I don't think I am supposed to say yep yet, but I figured that would be an easy one. I know I've spent plenty of time looking down the hood of that one. |

I was guessing a 4440. A fine John Deere. |
