3118 is hotter than the 3116. Not many keep that one on hand though.

it should be a 3116. Hotter is not the answer though, what's the real issue?

She's always been a little hard to start and took the mag off a while back so had to re-time it. just noticed yesterday it's 'sparking' @ 2.5 inches after it hits the impulse mark on the flywheel. Going to re-time it but just wanted to put a good set of plugs in it... Thanks

Hotter plug doesn't mean a larger spark in reply to jdub, 08-15-2012 03:16:25
|
They don"t add extra plutonium to the center electrode of a 388 vs a 386 plug to make it hotter. Hot or cold refers to the plugs ability to soak heat off the center electrode and transfer that heat energy to the engine"s cooling system. Run 3116 and solid core wires. Time the impulse to TDC or very slightly after TDC.

Use the 3116, stay Away from the resistor 386 and 388.
