My 1978 JD 4230 has always been hard to restart when it"s hot. Everything is fine in cool weather. This problem has got progressively worse. If I cool the injector pump down with cool water it will start right up. Is this the injector pump or the lift pump? How hard is it to replace the injector pump? How do I get it back in time? Thanks |

| What is the voltage between the main post on the starter solenoid and the cast body of the starter while cranking? |

| Have you tried using a hyd pump destroking screw? If not it's only $15 and it might help engine spin faster to aid cranking problem. If you decide to R&R pump on RH side of clutch housing are 2 holes. The large hole is for inserting an engine turning tool and the small hole is to insert a timing pin when engine is turned to cyl #1 TDC. Remove timing window on inj pump and line timing marks up when engine is at TDC. |
