We are cleaning out some old storage items and need to find a home for this but don't know where to start looking or what it's value might be. Any help for me? |

If it's a JD with a 3pt hitch it's more like in the 50's & 60's instead of the 30's & 40's. A photo is worth a 1000 words.

have you got any numbers off of the beams? That would be a help to get a model. Is all of it there? Depending on model and location I may be interested in it.

It's a 3 point hookup 2 row cotton planter. I don't have the lids for the boxes but I have the boxes. I know the basic planter, the toolbar, the boxes and the tamping wheels are all there and they do turn. Both knifes and the packing wheel are there. I will have to go try to read the numbers, I'm not with it right now. Someone else also told me it might be from the 50s. 31317 is a number my dad saw on the bar coming up the 3rd bracket (beam maybe?) I don't know if that's what you need but I can go look more later. He also saw a number that is either 655 or 555 on the bracket that holds the shank going down to the main furrow plow. C289-A is the number on the bracket that holds the packing wheel. I'm sorry I don't know more about it!

I didn't know there was a planter too. I guess on a 2 row planter $200-500 in my area. If it were restored I'm sure you could get a lot more. I've seen in some areas people pay more just to use them in deer plots. I've not found any of those people myself. On the plow, like Tx Jim said. If its a 3 point hitch its probably from the 50's or 60's. I'll try to look tonight at teh book that I have and see if those 3 digit numbers come up with anything. I can't remember any of them off the top of my head. Around here a 2 bottom plow is worth $250 to someone going to use it. Not a penny more. That is a 2 bottom 3 point hitch plow.
