I'm thinking of purchasing a 2750 FWA with cab and a 245 loader to use as a primary tractor on my beef cattle farm. Uses include feeding round bales in the winter, and then pulling a 10ft discbine and a 5x5 round baler in the summer. Is there anything I should be aware of to check on this tractor prior to purchase? I'd be selling two I.H. tractors to pay for it, so I won't have anything besides my 4020 with no loader to fall back on if I am dealing with breakdowns. Any thoughts are appreciated. |

| Thanks for the replies. Tractor has about 7000 hours, and current owner doesn't know if it has been overhauled at some point or not. I'll have to ponder this one a bit. |

| I bought one new and still have it. It's been a very good tractor overall. One thing to know up front is if the clutch original or been replaced. The cluth is self adjusting and when its worn out the tractor will hardly power itself back to the shop. It will take you by surprise. So if it has much age on it, i'd suggest having the clutch replaced before the tractor becomes your primary tractor. As others have said check it out, if the fluids look and smell good, and the tractor drives as it should, it should last a long time for you. |

| The 2750's were pretty rock solid tractors. I had one with a cab which we used on our orchard sprayer with no problems. I have two 2755's now. They are great. The 2755 is the same configuration but the new model which has improvements. Like Jim says check out everything. You're talking about a 30 year old machine so there's going to be good ones and bad ones depending on how they were taken care of and serviced. Pull the dipsticks and smell the oil. Smell the diesel and look at the anti-freeze. Ask the seller about the service history. Look at the radiator hoses and fan belt. If they look original, - great! but the tractor is probably due for a major service. |

I would get test kits from JD to check the engine & hyd oil plus the coolant. Check hyd oil for milky color indicating H20 presence. Also check drawbar,3pt balls, brake & clutch pedals for wear
