420 slant steer with live PTO and five speed. The book gives a torque setting of 100 for the output shaft nut. This thing has a castle nut and a hole in the shaft for a cotter key. I did not see anything in the book on what to do if one of the nut extensions falls on top of the cotter pin hole. 100 seems like plenty of torque to start with. Anybody seen any information on which way to go to get the hole lined up - loose or tight? |

| In a case like this if it really bothers you chunk that nut up in a lathe and take a wee bit off the back side. |

| Wow, this rates up there with religion, politics and the best lube oils for controversy. How many lb ft at the next looser and howard lb ft to the. Ext tighter? Have you spun the shaft a few times when torqued to 100 in case the pre- load eases some? New or used bearings? |

| | I stopped at 100. I did not check the next looser torque. The bearings have 124 operating hours on them. I am working at getting a better set on the R&P because of the noise it was making. I had the preload set at .005 |
