Does anyone know a supplier for this Pitman.
Deere # Z 8869 H, unvailable from Deere.
I haven't found a alt source & I don't have
the dimension's or I'd build one. I only know
it's Longer the a #5 Pitman. If I had the
dimensions I'd Make one.

This is how I figure out how long a pitman needs to be. I first take the end from the PTO and bring it full in and the sickle bar also full in centered in the guards. and measure the distance center of the ball. Then I slide it full out both of them and measure again. Doing that gets you real close. Years past I had to do that because the web was not something I had

If the pitman is longer than a No. 5 would it be possible to get one from a No. 8W or 39 (NOT 39N) mower? They are several inches longer and should be available. You may have to do some adjusting but I would think it would be easier than just starting from scratch. Mike

Last pitman I made cost me $186. I made it out of oak and when I tightened it down it compressed the wood. I didn't pay attention to the part that fits on the drive wheel and found out the 2 cast pieces cracked because the wood had compressed enough to put to much stress on them.

I will try to remember to measure mine when I get home tonight and post back what I find, Bob
