Does any one have a picture of a 4020 with the extra long rear axles, I want to see how far they would stick out as I am looking to find longer rear axles for mine to run axle duals and I have always like the look of extra long axles, and how long were the special dual axles?
Thanks

| Dad's 64 has the extra long ones. they stick out a long ways and they dont have the splines for the axle mover gear to go all the way in for 30" rows. We have to pull the pin which lets the little gear pop up and then we use a bar to push the tire in the last few inches. I have the short ones on mine. I haven't really ever noticed catching the lonng axles on stuff, but then I've driven that tractor since I was a kid. I will look for a picture showing teh axles. |

Would be a lot less grief to just get a pair of spacers to put on between your hubs and duals. :D |

| that is true but i cant get to 30" rows with the axles i have now any way so I would like different ones, plus I am over a period of time trying to make my 4020 one with as many options as i can, kind of a goal of mine to have an all decked out all option 4020 |

Larry
If I remember correctly from my tractor hauling days from Waterloo to Texas besides the permit the axles must also be flagged to keep the DOT satisfied. |

| On the early ones we had to run 6in spacers to fit 30in rows. The 69/72 had at least 6in more axle as the spacers were not required. If you are going to use factory wedge style duals the hubs are about 6in shorter than a hub with clamps.I have seen a few that had them cut off so they dont stick out.The 30/40 had some real long axles that were almost dangerous and any axle more than what you need can be a problem.Hauling long axle tractors requires a permit.105 is not as big of problem as 110 and there are some longer yet. |

| My 1970 4020 has short axles and they do not have the rack cut into the axle all the way in I can get my wedge hubs on but the axle is about 2 inches short, my dads 1970 4020 has a axle that is perfect for duals and has the rack cut all the way into the axle housing so he can get on true 30in rows, thats the type of axle I want its not too long and useful |

| Yeah mine have to be like that because they dont go in any farther, I am thinking of swapping axles this winter to some so I can get to 30" rows and have dual hubs on there that are in the right position for 30" rows |

| Long axles are a pain when one doesn't have duals on. I use my 4255 with long axles for rd baling and it will just barely squeeze through a 10 ft opening. |
