Took the ole tractor out for a ride today with the kids and noticed it missing in 6th gear especially when giving it some throttle. Carb adjustment needed or rebuild? Runs fine in other gears upon take off. Thanks in advance to all who reply. Dave |

The one looks a tad rich but that is to be expected. The letter 2 cylinders would mostly only run on one cylinder until they started working. The 388 plugs are hot as you can get. Might try 3116 they seem to do better about fouling, as they are a non resister plug. |

| Both Autolite 388 plugs were covered with flat black soot. |

| Yep---------Mine will do the same thing when its cool. I have to open the load needle two clicks to cure it. Once it is good and warm, no problem. Open your load needle two or three clicks and try it again in 6th gear. |

| Thanks for the replies. I will check the plug. I have owned the tractor for 3yrs and this is the first time I have an issue with it. Only thing I have done is change the oil and filter. It always starts right up when cold or after sitting awhile. I put it in 6th gear and took off for a ride when the engine was still cold and it was fine with no missing. After stopping a 1/2 mile down the road and taking off again it began to "cough" and miss till it got up to speed. |

| Could be a spark plug is starting to foul. Maybe the mag is needing work. Check the plugs first to see if they are clean. if they are black then replace them. There are several things that can cause your symptoms. |
