Ever hit a Deer with a car? Ever see a train hit one? Don’t be squeamish. Look below.

Question #1 Is my grandson OK?

Question #2 Where is he. I think I’m going to strangle him.

The kid came out without a scratch but he wasn’t so sure that’d be the situation after his granddad sees this ...................

Footnote: Although the paramedics discovered no one was injured when they arrived on the scene, they did have to caution people that got near the tractor motor laying on the ground as it was still running.

"Nothing runs like a Deere"

Didn't see the firemen standing in Plain view. in reply to Ray, 07-12-2012 17:11:51
Didn't see the emegency personal in plain view. Still certain about the 2nd thing they would do is shut down the engine.

The images were taken after the emergency responders had left. If the engine was found running they would have shut it down hours before the photo was taken.

Den,

Was this south of Greenwood near Sidon? Time of year and scenery look right for an accident where an elderly man drove onto tracks and was hit by a fast freight train. That man did not survive. That year we had at least three train tractor collisions in MS. Something about the tractor cab/engine frequency that operators do not hear the train. May be better testimony for the Sound-Guard cab than "Running like a Deere". Or an old farmer with bad hearing? One collision was believed to be suicide. Engine still running is questionable, but a hot diesel will sometimes ingest crankcase oil and run away with itself even with fuel shut off.

I agree as long as fuel & air were available because no electricity is required on that model to run.

Den N, might want to take your PC to a repair shop. It has come down with a bad virus. See all those funny little symbols in your message?

But what about all the electrical components that interrupt the circuits that are still attached at the dash. I call BS on this one still running. Like others, it's an old photo series recirculated.

I'm sort of on the fence about the engine running.
The longblock and aux equipment does look intact enough to be possible and no obvious fuel, coolant or oil leaks.
Crashed air craft and boats are noted for the engines to still be operating until manually shut down by survivors or rescuers.
Search parties have overlooked crash sites thinking the engine noise is from another nearby search party.

Wouldn't the engine be able to run as long as there was fuel in the injector pump and the lines to and from the pump?

How many clean pair of drawers did he need after it was all over? Glad he was not hurt.
