Could anyone help me with the correct placement of the insulating foam on the under side of the canopy on a JD 4020 1970 ROPS? The part number dimension is 54 by49.7. The 54 length is not long enough to cover from the rear edge to the complete front edge. So does it not go all the way forward or how is it to fit? If someone has a picture of an orginal installation would be very helpful

Dannie,I have had several tractors with canopys and dont think they had foam from factory. The ones that had foam added to quiet the noise need to be smooth which means the two supporting cross braces need to be dealt with. One is about 4in the other about 1 in.I have seen it cut or notched and they both looked fine.If you just try to go over them they will eventually sag. They need to be glued well. They might have factory applied adhesive I cant remember.Make sure it is really clean.

Dads new 2520 did have foam on when new,not sure if factory or added at dealer. The only purpose I can see for the foam is to prevent condinsation on the underside of roof. Not much fun first thing in the morning to have those big drops of water going down your neck or a wet seat. The foam was installed inside the supports,if you had the factory enclosure kit the headliner was inside.

I bought now new from Deere and the foam came in a plastic bag and I had to put it on. I just put it how it fit best. It's not perfect.
