34 chopper knives; how do i sharpen?

ok , how do i sharpen the knives? i have the door removed and stone slide loosened..is this a reverce sharpen systm as in bigger choppers? if so how do i reverse the cutter head? i dont have a book yet and was wanting to get it ready. thanks

Looking at JD parts page, there should be a jackshaft with roller chains used to reverse cutterhead. Have to take shear bolts out of shear device(double u-joint) first.

Not all 34 choppers had a reverse knife sharpner.The first ones did not but a update kit was made to convert the early models.The 34 was not Deere's best harvester,they seemed to pull very hard.Dad had a new 34 with a two-row and traded it on a 38 with two-row and said that the 4020 could pull the 38 a gear faster and got a finer cut as well.
