WIRING HARNESS FOR JD 4000 ROW CROP

ihave a john deere 4000 serial number 266735 r and the lightning system has not worked in years and my dad had the system bypassed with tempory wiring. am trying to restore the electrical system i need a good wiring diagram. got some from dealer but they were not sure if they had right one also gave me some for 4020 are they totally different any information would greatly help thanks rj in wyo

Just went through the same thing with the charging system on my 4000. Anyway, go talk to the technicians at the dealer. They have an electrical service manual. My dealer ran me off a copy of the diagrams and it was exactly right. I can't remember if it was just for the 4000 or 4000/4020 at certain serial numbers.
 
Go with JDBert, I installed one on an early 4020 2 years ago and was very impressed. I put the complete harness on and they have everything marked for easy installation. chris
 
today i got a diagram from dealer for a 4ooo and it wa s pretty simple and i got another one for a4020 and it was very detailed and was wordering if they were basicly the same will try that web site for harness becase the dealer wants to rob you on thge price
