1020 hydraulic question

Does the transmission pump in a 1020 run off the PTO input shaft,or the transmission input shaft? The reason I ask, mine is REALLY acting up. The loader doesn't work very fast if I push the clutch all the way down, but if I let it up past the first stage so the PTO runs, the loader snaps right to attention and works fine. The trans pump feeds the main pump up front doesn't it?
I'm afraid that old loader tractor is finally nearing forced retirement, but just wondering what the heck has gone wrong with it this time?

IIRC the trans pump drives off of the trans top shaft. Yes the trans pump supplies oil to main hyd pump. Have you felt hyd functions for excessive heat? Look in hyd filler hole for spraying oil with 3pt raised, engine running.

Okie Dokie. Will do. I had a spool go out in the steering one time so I had to hold the steering wheel all the way to the right to make the loader work, but this is a whole new ball game. Loader works with the clutch all the way down, just slow and jerky.
Seriously time to look for another loader tractor.

It's Cross valve. Plumbed in to a T under the right platform, back in to the filter cup. Been that way for 30 years.

Some 2 spool valves are convertible from open to closed center and visa-versa that can cause hyd problems but I think that isn't your problem. I was just curious if you were operating loader off of SCV's. I can't understand how clutch pedal 1/2 way down can affect hyds.

Just got to thinking. Is there a seperate suction line where the main pump should be picking up oil seperate of the lube pump feeding it? Wonder if something happened to that line if there is one? Course, that still doesn't solve the thing with the clutch. It just started that about Wednesday or Thursday. Prior to that,no trouble with the hydraulics.

Only thing separate would be the oil reservoir up by the radiator. If you have a high pressure internal leak the reservoir could be getting emptied very quickly. Does your tractor have hyd Hi-Lo? It is possible that your trans pump has gotten worn enough to not supply the correct amt of charge oil. Also the hyd oil filter relief valve could be leaking.

It does appear to be a high pressure side leak or otherwise return oil through the ported trans filter should almost keep up with front pump demand.
There doesn't seem to be any sort of check valves in the low pressure circuit from the transmission pump. And up to the front oil reservoir. Just a pressure control valve bolted to side of the trans case. And the relief valve that slides into a bore in the transmission case.
Is one of those stuck with dirt or ice?
Does this tractor have one or two pto mechanical levers on the left side of the trans case?

Looks like the high flow trans pump subs back for the older and low flow pumps.
