grease zerk on brake assembly unstyled B

When did JD start putting grease zerks on unstyled B brake assemblies. The '37 I have appears to have them put on by a previous owner. The outer case on the assembly has been cut and rewelded. I was going to replace them, but the assemblies at the local salvage did not have grease zerks.

The Grease Zerk should be located on the center of the brake shaft/drum assembly. On my "37 and "38 these were missing, but all I had to do was clean up the shaft interior and clean out the dirt in the threads and I was good to put in new ones.

B GURU's where are you?
I don't know the details on B's like I do the A's, but the situation with the A model was that grease zerks were used from the beginning of production through the end of 35 model year. At that point there was an improvement to the overall design of the brake assy. and the grease zerk was replaced by a push in (no threads) type oil cup. Of course many were later modified (threaded) to accept a grease zerk, as grease guns became the more popular method to lubricate.
Don't know if the B's went through a similar modification or not.

My 37 US B has zerks in the ends of the brake shafts. Whether they were there when it was new is anybodys guess.

My Parts catalog lists the zerk as being for B's for serial # 1000 and up, BUT, the catalog is dated 1960. That would still indicate to me that they were saying it would fit all B's from 1000 up without you having to buy new shafts or drill and thread your shafts. I may be way off base here.
