Deere parts

Anybody know how to by Deere parts with a big discount or know their supplier?

I need a charge pump shaft M87969 and their price to me is $528 + tax.

I think I'm getting sick.

Check at several dealers, they set their own markup and prices DO vary a bit.

Below is a link to one for $480, but I suppose shipping would eat up the savings!

I think it's basically the same shaft as a 317 Deere uses except that the input end is a different diameter or splined on your's. If you could adapt the coupling to fit, those shafts are readily available used.

This post reminded me of a deal I had with a guy for Michigan years ago, around 1990, he would sell me parts for 10% over Dealer cost, and at the time there was a way to come up with the actual dealer cost by reading a number on the micro fish parts index. The guy would order them through a dealer friend and re-sell them to me, he said the dealer friend and him cooked up this deal with the thought that 10% of something was better than "all' of nothing. I'm sure Deere would not have approved of the deal, but I bought a lot of parts off this guy, when I changed the direction in life I had forgotten about this. The guy was retired from Deere and had something to do with over sea shipments or some thing like that. He was shipping a lot of stuff to South America ,,I'm going to see if I can find that info,,I'm sure he is most likely not in business any more,,Darn it..I am not sure what the standard Deere Dealer mark-up is now, back then it was around 42%....

That's the trick Tim, find the right person to buy it for me. 42% doesn't surprise me, I would have guessed around 50%. I'll also follow up on what Bob suggested.

I'm almost sure that my old connection is no longer there,,he was a retired guy and that was near 20 years ago....some times you can deal a 10% discount on a large cash sale..being at the counter alone helps too, a parts guy don't want a reputation to get started...

There is no set margin for Deere Parts. Im a parts guy here in Oregon. Somethings are about 20%, most about 30% some up to 45%. Most lawn and garden parts are in the 40-45% range. But this isnt uncommon for any brand, Deere, Kubota, Cat, Agco, MTD, Craftsman. In fact Honda is 50%, most Stihl is 40% and a lot of other lawn and garden is 50+. Most ag is in the 30-40%.

Give Steiner Tractor Parts in Lennon, Michigan a try; you might be surprised.

I've found several needed parts there for a JD 50 that cost less than half of what Mother Deere wanted.

You can check out their web site via the link below (and also request a catalog), or you can give them a call at 1-800-link_disallowed.

(Disclaimer: I have no connection with Steiner, other than the fact that I buy their parts.)

Hope you are able to find what you need at a more reasonable price.
