##***??Mags

Messing around with a 39 styled B.Flywheel start. It would start o.k. cold, but when it warmed up it started to miss. If you shut it off and tried to start again hot.....nothing. Figured a bad coil / condenser. Both parts new, now won't fire at all. What am I missing here? Don't have a degree in rocket science, but don't believe I need one for this!

if its an external coil its NOT a mag. the points are the 1st thing to look at. if its hooked up as negative ground with a distributor the output of the coil is way less, it was set up originally as positive ground. it will run either way just not as well if backward.

The man said it is a hand start where would it get power for exteral coil and dist you are right about the points clean them and gap at.015

"if its hooked up as negative ground with a distributor the output of the coil is way less"

That's NOT correct.

If its a Magneto ignition, many problems are a result of burned, oxidized, pitted or carboned up points, check that first, try a clean (or replace if bad shape) n re gap. Many new condensors are bad out of the box ya know, that may be the cause.
